Principal's Bio


Tammy Hand received a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Auburn University in 1992. In 1995, she returned to Auburn University in Montgomery and received her Masters in Special Education and in 1998  obtained her degree in secondary Mathematics. After 22 years in the classroom, she attended the University of Montevallo and obtained her degree in Instructional Leadership.

She began her educational career as a Special Education teacher in Autauga County in the 1992. In 1993, she returned home to Chilton County, teaching special education for another seven years. After receiving a degree in secondary mathematics, she taught math for sixteen years at Chilton County High School.  Upon completion of her degree in Instructional Leadership, Tammy was named Assistant Principal of Verbena High School in the fall of 2016. She now currently serves as Principal.

Her educational philosophy is based on her uncompromising belief that all students can learn, given a positive learning environment, strong and knowledgeable leadership, and a committed faculty and staff.

Tammy is married to Donnie Hand. They have three children, Kendal, Jackson and Katon.
